4AI Systems Sponsors All-Female Team in National Junior Robotics Competition

Supported by a sponsorship from 4AI Systems to aid with travel costs, an all-female team from Farnborough State School impressively achieved second place at the national RoboCup Junior competition held in Melbourne in October 2023.

Prior to competing in the national competition, the team from the small local public school comprising of around 300 students won the 2023 CQ Junior Robotics Competition.

The annual competition held at CQUniversity in Rockhampton hosts primary and secondary schools, from Bundaberg to Mackay and Central West Queensland, to participate in the fun and friendly day. Students design robots to dance, play soccer or complete a rescue mission.

The competition has been held for the past 20 years and is run by volunteers, many of whom work at the university. Acting as a pipeline of talent coming through Central Queensland, there are participants from the early years of the competition who now work at the university and volunteer themselves.

Heartfelt letters received from the students from Farnborough State School thanked the 4AI Systems team for the opportunity to travel to the national competition, citing it as a memorable and amazing learning experience.

Mark Wood, Chief Technology Officer for 4AI Systems, said:

“It is fantastic that a donation from 4AI Systems gave the team the opportunity to showcase their efforts and see the work of other students. Seeing their smiles shows just how much it meant to them. We hope they continue with this enthusiasm throughout their education and we may even see some of them with us in the future!”

Through ongoing sponsorship programs and the philanthropy work of 4Tel’s founders, Derel and Susan Wust, the team is dedicated to supporting the education and life experience of young engineers in the making.
